Biography

Guillaume Bouillon began playing the cello at the age of 9 at the Conservatoire de Cambrai in the class of Emmanuel Puigdemont. He simultaneously studied for two years with Odile Bourin at the Conservatoire du 10e arrondissement in Paris, before going on to study with Hélène Dautry — whom he met during summer courses — at the Conservatoire de Lille, where he obtained his Diplôme d’Études Musicales in 2009.
In search of new horizons, Guillaume was admitted that same year to the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, entering the class of Patrick Demenga. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2012 and his Concert Performance Master’s in 2014 with the same professor, before completing a second Master’s in Pedagogy in 2016 with Marc Jaermann.
As a cellist, Guillaume is active in several orchestras: he has performed as a substitute with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, and as a trainee and substitute at the Sinfonietta de Lausanne. In chamber music, he is the co-founder of the Duo Eras with guitarist Bruno Dias, with whom he performs regularly. From 2014 to 2019, he was a member of the contemporary ensemble Sargo, working in workshop format with the composition class of D. Ammann at the Hochschule in Lucerne. Since 2015, Guillaume has been a member of Ensemble Diachronie in Fribourg.
In 2012, he performed as soloist in the Saint-Saëns Concerto with the Orchestre Allegro Passionnata, and in 2016 he performed the Haydn Concerto with the OJSR. He has appeared in solo and chamber music programmes at numerous festivals, including the Festival Bach in Lausanne, the Festival des Jardins Musicaux with the Quatuor Sine Nomine, and the Montreux Jazz Festival in quartet.
Guillaume is also regularly involved in original cross-disciplinary projects with artists from other fields, including theatre company Cantamisù and various dance projects. He was awarded a grant from the Fondation Irène Dénéréaz in 2018.
Passionate about teaching, Guillaume has been on the faculty of the École de Musique d’Épalinges since 2016, and at the Conservatoire de Musique du Nord Vaudois in Yverdon-les-Bains since 2017. He regularly gives outreach concerts designed to engage audiences of all ages — adults, elderly people, and children. He received the Bourse Paléo in 2016 for his outreach work.
Guillaume continues to develop his artistry through masterclasses with distinguished performers including Jérôme Pernoo, Anthony Leroy, Franz Helmerson, Gary Hoffman, Orfeo Mandozzi, and the Quatuor Debussy. In 2019, he performed with the duo “Vibrations de Bois et de Métal” alongside flutist Yu-Hsuan Kuo in Switzerland and France. Both are members of the association Les Concerts du Cœur, which brings concerts and workshops to elderly people, hospital patients and orphans.
